Is staying at home caring for yourself or someone you are caring for becoming too much?
Step 1. Contact your GP for a full and frank discussion.
Step 2. Your GP will arrange an assessment of your needs. A decision will be made as to what type of care you need. There are many types of care, sheltered accommodation, residential care, care and nursing homes.
Step 3. Once the level of care has been discussed and decided the search will begin.
You will find all care services in the UK here. Some services have chosen to enhance their listing to provide you with more information of their services. Ostrich does not compare care services, we provide you with the complete list of care providers. This provides you with a complete list for your search and a full choice of what is available.
Be sure that you arrange visits with the person going into care if you can. What you may like may not be what the person going into care wants. If you have a short list and visit on your own, you can then arrange for the person needing care to visit the ones you have approved.
Step 4. Move in and start enjoying your new home, meeting new people and having the support you need to enjoy your life.
Funding for these services depends on your medical need. If you need care for social reasons you will need to fund this yourself. In some situations the NHS is responsible for meeting your health needs, see here: www.nhs.uk/CarersDirect/guide/practicalsupport/Pages/Financialhelpwithsupport.aspx
