At Ostrich we believe that caring is important, and it's not just words. We care for the future, and we care for the elderly. This is why we have decided to get involved with a growing number of associations and ventures, such as:

Older People's Day

Older People's DayOstrich are the proud partners and sponsors of Older People's Day here in the UK for 2014 and the foreseeable future. This is a world wide initiative in conjunction with the United Nations to celebrate all that is valuable about Older People. By making awareness of the contribution that older people make daily to society, radical changes may be made to the way people consider and view older people. Social isolation and inclusion can be addressed in different and engaging ways. Ostrich will be working with other committed existing and new partners who also support this event to create a year long programme of highlights and events, news and activities, culminating next year on Oct 1st 2014.

Age Action Alliance

Age Action AllianceOstrich are the sponsors of the Age Action Alliance 'All About Ageing' photographic competition. It's open to any one of any age and the details can be found on the Age Action Alliance website. The closing date has been extended to Nov 30th. The aim of the competition is to show the positive images of ageing. Entries will be judged and an exhibition will be staged in 2014. The aim is to have local communities welcome the exhibition around the Country and to have them and the many Age Action Alliance partners use it as a focus and backdrop for their own objectives. The Purple Angel

The Purple AngelOstrich gives a whole-hearted support to the Purple Angel, universal symbol of dementia created by the amazing Norman McNamara, a dementia sufferer who decided to fight this awful disease with all his might. Too few people know that dementia is not just Alzheimer’s, which is why raising awareness is of the utmost importance. In August 2013 we launched in partnership with Norman a Dementia Awareness Campaign targeted at shops. Our goal: to raise awareness in the retail world, so customers with dementia (and their carers) can feel safe in dementia-friendly shops. As part of this campaign Norman created a Guide to Dementia Awareness to give to every dementia-friendly shop, along with a window sticker featuring the Purple Angel. 50 ambassadors have been appointed to work with Ostrich and Norman on this campaign all over the UK, but also in the USA, Australia, Nepal and Germany, and Purple Angel stickers have already been sent all over the world.
