Powers of Attorney

While we automatically protect our cars, our homes and even our pets against “what ifs” the majority of us fail to protect ourselves. And yet it is so important, and so easy, to do.

A Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is a legal document where you appoint someone to manage your affairs should you, for some reason, be unable to do so yourself. This may be because of:

• An accident
• A disability
• The onset of an illness such as Alzheimer’s or Dementia or after suffering a stroke.

Without an LPA no one has the automatic right to take control of your finances. This even includes your spouse and could mean they are left unable to access money needed to pay critical bills such as the mortgage, council tax or gas and electricity bills or, if you own a business, wages.
