Before you ask, let’s get the elephant out of the room and say YES! We do insure ostriches through Ostrich pet insurance.

We also insure parrots and exotic animals (like us) and really important pets like Dementia dogs, dogs for the disabled and blind, riding horses for the disabled, working dogs on shoots and idle dogs by the fire. We insure cats too of course! 

Pet insurance in care homes

Now what worries a lot of people when they go into care is having to be separated from their pet. What you might not realise is that many care homes now not only welcome you but your pet too. However, for your pet to be accepted in your care home, they generally must be insured.

At Ostrich we’ve made it easy for you to know which care homes welcome pets: we’ve just asked them. So if you’re looking for a pet-friendly care home, just check the "General" section on the page of the care home you’re interested in.

In the same way you might be needing extra care and insurance, so might your pet. It’s also important to consider the home may need you to have a slightly higher public liability insurance… just in case so, it makes sense to use a pet insurance scheme that understands both your needs and theirs.

Even if care isn’t high on your agenda and you are still able enough to be walking the hounds, or chasing a puppy, keeping the snakes warm in the bath and the donkey tethered in the yard, probably best to give us a call.
