Why appointing Ostrich Purple Angel Ambassadors?50 Ostrich Purple Angel Ambassadors are being appointed by Ostrich worldwide to support and spread the word of Norman McNamara and his global campaign to increase awareness of Dementia through the Purple Angel logo and other means.
This is a voluntary role. You will be supported by Ostrich as much as possible to bring your ideas and Norman's to life, and you will also be given guidelines, ideas, info and projects to direct your actions towards.
As any Ambassador does, you will be representing Ostrich and Norman McNamara across the world stage. Accepting invitations from groups in his and our name, becoming involved in events run by others, organizing your own and offering support and guidance and awareness about the Purple Angel logo and how that image and that message can be spread.
An event in late November will bring all 50 Ostrich Purple Angel Ambassadors selected together, whether it be in person, linked by Skype or Face Time to hear Norman McNamara officially appoint you all and send you off with the inspiration he inspires to get this job done.
To be considered please submit your name, full address, day time contact number, email and a brief 250 word description of why being selected would be important to you. Why raising awareness of Dementia is your passion. Share with us your own ideas that you are burning to get out there but need help to get off the ground. Send this to [email protected]
Please also clearly specify your postcode, Zip Code County, State or Region and how far you may be willing to travel in your part of the Country from your home location.
The time you give to being an Ambassador is really up to you, it's what you achieve that’s going to count.
Closing date to apply is October 11th and you will be informed on or before November 1st.
For your existing work and passion we offer you our respectful thanks and our admiration, for all we know you will achieve in Norrms' name as Ambassadors we hold our breath in anticipation...
Dementia Awareness: let’s go and make it happen.

Who makes the decision about who becomes an ambassador - Ostrich, Norman, or PurpleAngelOrg?
Hi Belinda!
Norm has always made the running but the public make the decisions, supported by all of us who wish to raise awareness and, with what Norm, Purpleangel.org and all those who have worked so hard to make this happen , the angel is carrying the message of support to people all over the globe. Our thanks go to Ostrich for their support in providing free stickers and information so that many more people can also make their voice heard.
Hiya, purple angel .org is a totally separate entity set up to raise funds for DAD day and also the profile of the Angel herself. They do such a wonderful job doing what they do, but the Purple Angel Ambassador initiative is something that Ostrich and myself are hoping to implement with the help of all you wonderful people xxxxxxxxxx
The foundation gladly makes application to this most worthy cause. Any consideration given to accepting the foundation as an ambassador is appreciated. There is much work to be done, and we definitely are ready for the task.
I am passionate about supporting this worthy cause. From a work point of view and having a father in law with Alzheimer's. If someone has more time then they must be of more support but I am very happy to help in some way. Its hurt our family so much. xx Norms you are the man. :-) Thank you
Dementia has taken My Gorgeous Mum to Heaven and has got a hold of my Father in Law now,I would be privaledged to become a Purple Angel Ambassador,I saw a lot of things as a daughter that needed changing and educating towards Dementia/Alzheimers,I have been watching Sir Norms and Elaines passion and i now have the same passion inside me.Thank you Sir Norms you are my inspiration and with us all together we will do what we have set out to do xx
Norms i told you there is going to be a lot more than 50 wanting to become Purple Angel Ambassadors. The Angel is spreading and their is no stopping it because it is such a worthwhile cause that affects so many. I just completed my MA in Gerontology and plan to apply Ostrich Purple Angel Ambassadors?
I would like to be a purple ambassador
I would like to become an Ambassador but I'm not sure I can complete all that you need. I can not travel far from home and my time is limited by the time a carer is here at the house with my wife.
Hi Norms, sorry we didn't meet when I was in Devon in the summer. Since my breakdown in 2006 I have some memory problems but not diagnosed yet but fear i may have early signs. So i am right behind you in bringing awareness to the fore. I can only support most of the time by social media and spreading the word but will do my best always. I do sit on a few other voluntry committees as well so hence time is a little short.
Ada and Bill HI Norms and Elaine I would love to be a Purple Angel Ambassador will send in Cheerio Bill
I have submitted my application to become one of the Ambassadors here in the USA. I'm excited by this wonderful worldwide awareness campaign!

Hi Normms - I am excited to be able to bring awareness to this awful disease in memory of my mama.
Thanks for the link
I am a sufferer of BPD and have worked as a volunteer in Care Homes so have experience of Dementia. I have been a governor on the Northamptonshire NHS Foundation Trust so have good contacts. I love the work that Norms does, and would love to help. C :)
I'm just leaving New York City from a JiminyWicket.org event to raise awareness and will fill out a form tomorrow I'd love to be an ambassador! So much we can do together to improve things
You are all, each and every one of you, stars in my eyes, thank you my wonderful friends xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
So many thanks to everyone who applied to be an ambassador it is heart-warming to see so many people willing to raise awareness of dementia!
My Mum suffered from Alzheimers and it was a very bad time in my life watching her disappear from before my eyes. Also the guilt I still feel now, years later, that I could not look after her at home. Now I am immobile, and in a wheelchair needing pushed. A very bright spot in my life has been contacting Norm. Cannot be an Ambassador but will help in any way I can.
Thank you so much Greta xxxxxxxxxxxxx
